Carmell Jones
The Kansas City native moved to California in the 1960s where he worked as a studio musician for many years. He contributed to several milestone records such as Horace Silver’s “Song for My Father”. His versatility and dynamic range made him the go-to trumpet player for many bandleaders and film production houses. Jones also lived in Germany for 15 years and worked with Paul Kuhn and the SFB Big Band. In 1980 he moved back to the US and worked as a teacher in Kansas City.
