Die 4-LP-Box "The Tiberi Tapes" versammelt bislang unveröffentlichte Live-Mitschnitte, die der Saxofonist Frank Tiberi zwischen 1960 und 1964 in Clubs in New York und Philadelphia aufnahm. Mehr als sechs Jahrzehnte blieben die Bänder weitgehend ungehört. Sie dokumentieren Coltrane gemeinsam mit seinen legendären Mitstreitern in einer der aufregendsten Phasen seiner künstlerischen Entwicklung. Es sind keine konventionellen Konzertmitschnitte – ihr historischer Klang zeugt von den abenteuerlichen Umständen ihrer Entstehung. Dafür kommt man Coltrane auf der Bühne erstaunlich nahe: suchend, experimentierend und seine Musik immer weiter vorantreibend. Für die Jazzwelt ist diese Veröffentlichung ein außergewöhnliches Ereignis!
