Your order will be sent out as soon as all items are on stock. Items marked as “Available for immediate delivery” usually will be sent out within 24 hours. Jazz singer Carmen McRae had already established herself as a successful Decca Records artist when the label came up for her with the charming and unusual concept for “Birds of a Feather”: a collection of songs devoted entirely to the world of birds. Thanks to McRae’s unmistakable gift for phrasing and Ralph Burns’ sophisticated orchestral direction, however, the album goes far beyond its playful theme.

McRae’s poised, expressive delivery and cool vocal timbre are matched by elegantly arranged orchestral accompaniment, lending a distinctive character to familiar standards such as “Bye Bye Blackbird”, “Skylark” and “When the Swallows Come Back to Capistrano”. Throughout, she combines lightness and swing with the subtle emotional depth that remains one of her greatest strengths.
