With "The Sidewinder," young trumpeter Lee Morgan released an album on Blue Note in 1964 that would ultimately secure his place in the jazz hall of fame. Even as a teenager, he had caused a sensation on John Coltrane's classic "Blue Train" and as a soloist with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. For "Cornbread" he assembled an astounding crew for this epic session: Hank Mobley, Jackie McLean, Herbie Hancock, Larry Ridley and Billy Higgins on drums, and "Cornbread" captures Morgan and everyone involved at their absolute best.
BLUE NOTE TONE POET EDITION: produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analogue master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a gatefold sleeve with deluxe tip-on jacket.
