Stan Getz (1927–1991) was a jazz saxophonist and a pivotal figure for Cool Jazz and Latin Jazz. Renowned for his lyrical playing style, Getz was one of the most influential saxophonists of all times.

Throughout his career, Getz pursued a smooth and melodic approach to the tenor saxophone, characterised by a lush tone and an elegant execution of even the most complex arrangements. His list of collaborators includes Oscar Peterson, guitarist Charlie Byrd, and bossa nova legend João Gilberto. Their iconic collaboration “Getz/Gilberto”, including the evergreen “Girl from Ipanema”, helped spread the gospel of Brazilian music far and wide.
