Due to the success Stan Getz had in the mid-1960s with his bossa recordings, "Stan Getz & Bill Evans" was only released almost ten years after it was recorded, with the subtitle “Previously Unreleased Recordings.” Yet the album, recorded in May 1964, had everything it took to make jazz lovers' hearts beat faster. It featured two renowned protagonists: Stan Getz and Bill Evans, who were musical romantics at the zenith of their abilities. They were joined by Coltrane drummer Elvin Jones and alternating bassists Ron Carter (Side A) and Richard Davis (Side B), three accompanists who were among the absolute best in their field.
